Process Objective Assignment
Scope

Develop project objectives, define the scope and develop the project requirements with all stakeholders.

Define and negotiate the scope of the project. Create the project in Deskscape database.

Detailed requirements

Unearth the information necessary for clear requirements from the stakeholders. Build a network of achievements & sub-achievements.

Develop and secure agreement on the project requirements. Submit the requirements to the team leader and receive written feedback.

Project charter

Define the project charter, including authority & accountability structures, resource requirements, risks & assumptions and change control.

Present the strategic plan for the project and receive feedback on both the content and the presentation.

Work breakdown structure and assignments

Build a work breakdown structure from the approved project plan.  Define the summary tasks, sub-tasks and individual assignments for each team member.

Using the requirements now developed, lay out a WBS with clear assignments for the team and a foundation for tracking actual results. Submit the WBS to the team leader for written feedback.

Predecessor network

Use Deskscape software to create predecessor relationships between assignments, yielding a network of tasks and all precedence relationships.

Transform the WBS into a predecessor network which will automatically adjust to changes in the plan.  Submit the plan to the team leader for review.

Resource assignments, estimates and  commitment

Assign individuals to tasks in the work breakdown structure, and develop duration estimates with team members and contractors, gaining commitment to their accountabilities and schedules.

Develop an effective schedule for the project within the availability constraints of the team members/contractors.  Then accurately estimate durations in a project simulation with the team leader.

Final approval presentation and critical path

Use critical path to analyze the network of tasks and develop options for shortening the project duration.

Present the final project schedule to the sponsor and provide options for shortening the project duration.  Record feedback.

Team leadership & managing conflict

Assess a conflict situation on the project team then act to resolve it and avoid potential problems.

Submit conflict assessment and action plan to the team leader for review. Record actions taken.

Tracking & status reporting

Using status data from project team members, update the project plan to reflect changes and use Deskscape project management software to identify problems.

Analyze the status data and the project plan. Assess the problems & opportunities and develop an action plan. Present in a real time status report meeting with the sponsor and stakeholders.
